241 dancers converged at the Bandshell in Central Park, NYC to stand en pointe for one minute.<\/p><\/div>\n

Dancers from the\u00a0American Ballet Theatre<\/a> and the\u00a0Kips Bay Boys and Girls Club<\/a> came to the park and broke the\u00a0Guinness record<\/a> for most ballet dancers en pointe for a minute, with 230 <\/strong>dancers successfully completing a simple routine on their toes.<\/p>\n

The previous record holder was the\u00a0Youth America Grand Prix<\/a> 10th Anniversary last April at City Center, with 220 dancers participating.<\/p>\n

In total, 241 dancers of all ages showed up, and 230 stayed on their toes until the end.<\/p>\n

“We’re making history through dance,” said\u00a0Craig Salstein<\/a>, a soloist with the Amercan Ballet Theatre, who led the dancers.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

“I think it’s great to see dancers of all different ages and sizes giving it a try,” said\u00a0Emily Willard<\/a>, 36, of Manhattan.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Some said they heard about the challenge online and came into town to make history.\u00a0Brooke Wasserman<\/a>, 19, of Connecticut, said she found out about the event on Facebook\u00a0and didn’t want to miss it.<\/span><\/p>\n

“I feel so cool,” added\u00a0Isabel Lagana<\/a>, 11. “There are so many dancers here all in one place.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
